In the spring of 1996 Wastewater
Resources was selected by OHM Remediation Services and
Pacific Mechanical Contractors to provide the multimedia
filtration, control system, and lift station interface for
Site 27 of the Nellis Remediation Contract by the U.S. Army
Corps of Engineers.
The company completed the intial design
and constructed three 72" diameter multimedia filters for
use at the site as the final filtration step in the
remediation of groundwater contaminated by jet fuel. The
system included an Allen Bradley SLC500 microprocessor
control center to operate the entire facility and interlink
the lift station for final effluent removal.

Center
The system was equiped with automated
backwash and digital instrumentation including the standard
WRI touch screen operator interface. The multimedia filters
were installed turn key by WRI and all training on system
and plant operation was done by Wastewater Resources.

Installation
All pipe supports and intersystem pipe
was fabricated and installed by WRI. Notice the
self-contained air conditioned control center to the left of
this photo. The Ccorps has contracted for media replacement
and operator training with WRI in its 1997 budget for the
facility.
Effluent Lift Station
The Effluent lift pumps are interlinked
to the PLC and act as backwash supply pumps for the
automated individual vessel backwash. A backwash decant tank
is included at the site and is controled for decant drain
valve sequence. This type extended shaft dual lift station
is a feature on many WRI treatment systems.
